Well, this weekend was our first ever trip to Abilene Speedway. We arrived at the track about 4 pm with about 23 other sprint cars in the pits. The weather was nice as we headed out to look over the track. The track is a 1/4 mile oval with red dirt with narrow turns that looked to be in great shape.
We drew in row 2 outside in the second of 3 heat races then headed out for hot laps. The set up on the car was good so we left it alone for our heat race. At the start of our heat race the out side line was fast and the place to be so when the green flag dropped we had made our way to second place by the time we came out of turn 2 only to have a caution wave.
Then when we lined up again they moved me up to the outside pole and when the green flag flew I was able to clear the pole sitter going into turn 1 and stayed out front till the checkered flag. At that time we felt good about being in the draw for the top 8 and Jessica drew #1 putting us on the pole for the feature.
The track was changing fast and so we changed our set up trying to guess what the track would do then headed out for the feature. At the green flag we took off into turn 1 and held our lead and then had a caution. Then on the restart we took off again and we were a little to loose but held on for a few laps but lost some ground by lap 10 or so.
By the time the race was over we had dropped back to 3rd but still had a great night.
Again we would like to thank all the fans and friends that stopped buy and said hi and bought our t-shirts. Wow we sold a bunch of them! We would also like to thank all our great sponsors and ask that you support them as they support us.
